19/2/2014 Attraction Review: Burton Agnes Hall

Burton Agnes Hall isn't somewhere that I've been before so it was lovely to visit this week as part of a Welcome to Yorkshire meeting.

From the park, it will take you approx 30 minutes to get there or 45 minutes if, like me, you get a little lost on the way.

The house itself is beautiful and immaculately presented. The lovely part I noticed was the photos of the family. Modern photos of a young couple on their wedding day and with their young children. Its really homely and you can imagine that, once the guests have left for the day, the family can relax in front of the glowing fire.

Burton Agnes Hall is a home - its not just an historic house/visitor attraction - and that is part of its charm.

The most interesting thing for me was to see the house in Winter. Pictures are taken from the walls and historic books are piled on rugs. This is decorating on a grand scale!

Despite the awful, rainy conditions I still took the time to have a wander through the woddland walk. It was lovely to see a carpet of snowflakes. I would love to have something similar on the park but fear it would be wasted since we don't open until March.

It was a little too wet to look around all the grounds but the children's corner sounds great for the younger members of the family.

Check our their website for details of Burton Ages Hall's events. It may have been my first visit but I'm certain it won't be the last
