7/8/2018 What's cooking on your BBQ?

As we make our way around the park, we canít help but smell all the delicious meals that our guests are making on their camping stove or BBQ.

We recently asked our followers on social media to share with us their favourite camping meals. Here are just some of those that we are hoping to taste when they next visit us:

The Joyes Family from Manchester enjoy their Foil Surprises:

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • BBQ Sauce – smokey types are a family favourite
  • Courgette – cut into strips
  • Red Pepper – cut into lengthways strips
  • Baby Corn – slice lengthways
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Olive oil
  1. Prepare 4 rectangles of foil – big enough to wrap around the chicken and vegetables
  2. Brush each chicken breast with your favourite BBQ sauce and place one on each of your foil rectangles
  3. Place the vegetables around each chicken breast and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Drizzle over a little olive oil.
  5. Ensuring they are completely sealed, wrap the foil around the chicken and vegetables.
  6. Place your foil surprises onto the BBQ and cook for approx. 30mins – turning them occasionally during cooking.
  7. Once the chicken is completely cooked through, open each packet and serve.

 Michelle’s Chuck In

Love Michelle’s idea of throwing anything into a stew pot:

“Anything meaty like beef burgers, sausages, hotdogs, meatballs, any other you like, with a tin of potatoes, tin of peas, tin of carrots, some instant gravy granules and salt & pepper. Put it all into a large sauce pan and cook on your camping stove. Tastes great!”

S’mores

Whilst traditionally cooked over a campfire there is no reason why you shouldn’t try these on the BBQ – especially since there are no campfires allowed here at Robin Hood Caravan Park. We made them on a trip to USA and they’ve been our own family favourite ever since.

  • Digestive Biscuits
  • Milk Chocolate – large Cadbury chocolate buttons are perfect for this
  • Marshmallows
  1. Prepare the biscuits on a table, placing a chocolate button on each of them
  2. Carefully toast your marshmallow over the BBQ until it is just turning gooey – but not burnt
  3. Place the cooked marshmallow onto the chocolate button and add another biscuit on top – like a sandwich.
  4. The heat of the marshmallow gently melts the chocolate for a delicious gooey treat.

If you have any more recipes you’d like to share with us, please feel free to email us at info@robinhoodcaravanpark.co.uk and if you’re ever visiting and you’ve cooked a few too many burgers or bacon sandwiches – we’re always hungry in reception.
