If you are joining us this half term, there are some great events to look out for at our local attractions:

Dark Skies Fringe Festival

22nd October – 31st October 2021

Together with the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the North York Moors National Park will be holding a series of events as a taster for the Dark Skies Festival in February. Events including Stargazing, Whitby’s Illuminated Abbey and a Light Spectacular on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

 

Halloween at Castle Howard

16th October – 31st October 2021

The spooky Skelves are back this October half term to take you on adventure trails around Ray Wood, plus there’ll be self guided trails to enjoy, so get those wellies on and search for some magical beasts whilst enjoying fantastic autumnal colours in the woodlands! You can also book in to make a broomstick and learn how to fly it, using materials sourced from the forestry team at Castle Howard.


Light Spectacular at North Yorkshire Moors Railway

26th October to 31st October

The train will be illuminated in dazzling neon lights for a dazzling one-hour journey through the North York Moors as Voice Over Man, from the X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent, entertains guests alongside a DJ-Mix of music that will get you in the mood for a party the whole family will enjoy.

Each passenger will be given their own interactive LED wristband which is synchronised to the music and passengers become part of the show.


Halloscream at York Maze

8th October – 31st October 2021

Winner of Best UK Scream Park, this Halloween adventure is sure to leave you shaking. Enter – if you dare! York Maze’s more sinister Halloween experience is back with over 100 actors provide terrifying scares in five live-action haunted houses, each themed with its own spooky story. Even outside of the houses there is no escape, with roving characters and live stage shows adding to the apprehensive atmosphere. Not suitable for children aged under 14 years old.
